MICHELLE'S STORY
Michelle was born in Puerto Rico. She came to the mainland as a child. As a teenager, her family suffered from poverty. She lost her father to suicide, and she and her family were homeless. Fortunately, public housing in Chad Brown gave them a home. Unable to afford college, Michelle went to Afghanistan to serve our country. When she came home, she enrolled in CCRI and then RIC, eventually graduating with a Masters in Social Work. She now works at a nonprofit in Central Falls working to educate low-income young people. She’s dedicated her life to lifting up the vulnerable, and she’s running for the State Senate to continue that fight.
